Lake Tahoe Music Festival

Founded in 1983 by Edgar Braun, conductor of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, the Lake Tahoe Music Festival presents eight concerts of chamber and classical music with contemporary twists in three scenic venues. Attendance in the 10,000 range. Takes place mid-July through mid-August.

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival

With bragging rights to "The Most Scenic Venue in the World," the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival stages productions of Shakespeare classics in its outdoor venue on the shores of Lake Tahoe each summer (mid-July through mid-August). Hot August Nights

Nostalgic nine-day festival features more than thousands of classic cars from the '50s and '60s from across the United States. The Hot August Nights festival also includes several free concerts with performances by top stars from the 1960s, and a prom night.
Kokanee Salmon Festival

The Kokanee Salmon Festival in early October coincides with the annual spawning of salmon up South Lake Tahoe's Taylor Creek. The two-day event includes a Kokanee Kookoff, art displays, educational programs, nature walks, and tours of the Lake Tahoe's Visitors Center Stream Profile Chamber.

Artists from around the West participate in this weekend event at the end of July. The festival features art exhibits, wine tasting, a kidís activities and live music.
